According to NYSED regulations, the professional engineer’s seal must adhere to the following design criteria:

  • Shape and Size: The seal must be circular with a diameter of approximately 1¾ inches.
  • Outer Band Text:
    Top: “STATE OF NEW YORK”
    Bottom: “LICENSED PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER”
  • Inner Circle:
    The engineer’s full name should appear above the New York State Coat of Arms.
    The engineer’s license number should be placed below the Coat of Arms, without any additional letters or numbers.

These specifications are detailed in Part 68 of the Commissioner’s Regulations and are applicable to individuals licensed on or after July 1, 1984.
Firm Information: If the engineering work is performed under a firm, the firm’s name and registration number must also be included on the document.
